Lunch at KEONG KEE 77 RESTAURANT · 1:29 PM

Still a pretty good pork noodle with good coffee. The pan mee noodle is not nice, just good with that normal noodle.

📅 Oct 14, 2023

Lunch at Toast & Co @ Puchong Jaya · 2:14 PM

This shop makes good Korean-like toast. Chicken Katsu (RM 20.50) is pretty good. Think crispy toast, good ingredients and tasty sauce. Good Cappuccino (RM 11) and French Toast (RM 7.50). Scone (RM 2) is disappointing.

Dinner at Skinny Dip Puchong Café Restaurant · 6:02 PM

Affordable pricing for a cafe with an interesting fredo coffee. It offers a fusion menu: western food cooked in Asian style.

Lunch at Big Singh Chapati @ Puchong · 1:13 PM

Big Singh Chapati finally landed in Puchong, and it maintain the same quality as its SS 15 branch (they move some of their staff here). I love their lunch set from RM 8.90 to RM 18+, plus RM 2 for Masala Tea. But today no lunch set, so we order ala carte with some breads. Aloo Gobi Masala (RM 14.90) is good with gravy. Chili Prawn (RM 27.90) is tasty with crunchy outer skin, no shell, but no gravy. The Chapati (RM 2), Tandoori Roti (RM 5) and Plain Naan (RM 5) are all good, I can't decide I like which one better. Punjabi Chai Hot (RM 4.50) is nice, with less spice than Masala Tea.

Lunch at Ichimachi Taiwanese & Japanese Cuisine · 3:02 PM

The Steed Pork 控肉饭 Set with side dishes (RM 16.50) is fairly tasty, just the pork could be softer. The Pork Ramen (RM 16.50) is decent.

📅 Oct 6, 2023

Lunch at Restoran kaw kaw pakkopi · 12:51 PM

Coffee Ice (RM 4.70) is okay. The Hakka Noodles (RM 10.80) comes with a piece of sakot, taste alright. Signature Curry (RM 11.80) is decent. My mom is disappointed with the Dumpling of her Wanton Noodle. As for pastry, the kaya one is pretty nice.

📅 Oct 3, 2023

Lunch at Kojitsu Kitchen · 3:11 PM

The environment is pretty nice, a cozy home surrounded by many things and books, and a garden view. The music selection is meh. The chef recommended a fish and chicken meal for the day, and an extra dish of eggs. The food feels a bit homey, slightly above average, and pretty alright for RM 25. Drink options are okay. Service is a bit slow. The main problem with this place is the expectations, as it is hard to book, and I need to book about 1 week to 1 month ahead. So naturally this set the expectations high (due to the effort required), but it did fall below my expectations. If this is just a normal walk-in restaurant, then I would not have the expectations issues. A few things in the beginning rub me the wrong way as well: parking is slightly far, the front is not obvious, and you actually have to enter via the back entrance. Just me complaining, if you already got the heads up, this will be a non issue.

Late Teatime at Sunday Coffee & Cakes · 5:09 PM

Love this place: great service with good dessert and mains and coffee. Cappuccino is good, Tiramisu is good and Shakshuka is tasty.

Dinner at 仲夏 Midsummer Night · 6:17 PM

The Edamame Pork Lard Rice (RM 13) is the best simple inexpensive comfort food. Lychee coffee (RM 13) is interesting, and Jelly of the Day (RM 6) is satisfying. The jelly ran out pretty fast, so order first and ask them to serve later.

📅 Oct 1, 2023

Lunch at Restaurant OK Puchong Taste · 12:45 PM

This place has the famous Uncle Soon fried rice (RM 11), it is good. Ginger Steam Noodle can try as well. The yam cake is decent, just not the seller not so friendly. Coffee is average.

📅 Sep 30, 2023

Breakfast at VCR · 9:04 AM

VCR Breakie (RM 32) is just alright, nothing to shout about. Soft Shell Crab Burger (RM 30), the crab is probably too small, thus no fulfilling sense of a good burger. Cappuccino (RM 14) is pretty good. I think it is pretty good neighborhood cafe, but probably a let down for tourist. This is one of the most famous cafe around KL center, and the place filled up pretty fast on Saturday morning.

Brunch at Restoran Yap Hup Kee · 11:13 AM

The Curry Chee Cheong Fun is superb: soft, thick curry with flavourful crushed shrimp. The ingredients are pretty tasty as well.

2nd Brunch at Restaurant Pak Lock · 11:50 AM

Decent Wantan Noodle, I like the texture of the noodle. Char Siew is average, coffee also average. Love the fact that it is still shady at noon time, so can sit at the open air area under the tree.

Lunch at Ah Weng Koh Hainan Tea · 1:14 PM

Situated at ICC Pudu, Ah Weng Koh has its own special dining area separated from the food court. We order the special Hainan tea with ice cream, didn't disappoint and worth a try. The toast is good with good amount of butter. It has a few food stalls as well.

Dessert at Restoran Ruby · 1:43 PM

This place offer decent walnut and black sesame paste, most places taste like some factory made powdery taste. They did put some effort to make some dessert art for you.

Breakfast at Ho Kow Hainam Kopitiam · 9:12 AM

There is a 20 minutes queue on Friday 9AM. Just take a number and have a stroll at the Kwai Chai Hong next door. The dried curry chicken (RM 12.90) and Curry Chee Cheong Fun (RM 5.80) is pretty good, Cham Iced (RM 4.30) is average. The Butter Kaya Toast (RM 3.40) is not crispy nor fresh, even though it is toasted. Pretty bad I would say. Turkey Ham and Egg Croissant (RM 8.90) is average as well.

Visit at Kwai Chai Hong · 10:00 AM

A small photo spot. Fairly interesting if you enjoy posing with the props and deco to capture a few photos.

Visit at Petaling Street Market · 11:00 AM

Besides experience haggle shopping at the market, the street itself is fairly charming with many old shops. You can sample some street food, street arts, visit cafes and temples.

Drink at Kim Soya Bean · 11:12 AM

Decent and popular soybean stall. Nothing special, but perfect location especially on a hot sunny day.

Snack at Madam Tang Machi Popo · 11:30 AM

No longer run by the original auntie, but the stall does have her brand name. Taste and texture wise is just average.

Visit at Guan Di Temple Chinatown · 11:49 AM

God of War Temple in Petaling Street (founded in 1887), walk in to pray for blessing or just to soak in the old temple vibe.

Visit at Sri Maha Mariamman Temple · 12:10 PM

A beautiful Indian Temple at Petaling Street founded in 1968. Need to take off your shoes, paid storage available (very reasonable charges). Sarung rental for women to cover up exposed leg is available as well. Don't be shy, everyone is welcome to walk in and visit the temple, with beautiful architecture and colourful statues of god. You are even welcomed to join they prayer if you bumped into the praying ceremony.

Dessert at Niko Neko Matcha 2.0 - Chinatown · 1:10 PM

A minimalist vibe, comfortable enough for matcha and dessert. This is like a premium matcha shop, with plenty of variety of matcha with different origin. I just randomly selected Saemidori K1 (RM 13). I am no expert, but it is thick yet smooth, thus nice. The Yuri / Matcha Marble Roulade (RM 13) has many layers of taste and texture, so I would say it is pretty interesting. Akane / Cashew Houjicha Choux is a letdown because the outer layer is soggy, this doesn't have the feeling of freshness.

Visit at Central Market · 2:00 PM

An old shopping mall with plenty of crafts and gift shop.

Visit at Sin Sze Si Ya Temple · 3:00 PM

I enjoy the vibe of the old temple (founded by Yap Ah Loy in 1864), it has a great ancient charm.

Lunch at Kedai Kopi Lai Foong · 3:20 PM

Famous for beef noodle, which is pretty good. They will give you the large portion by default, so you need ask for small portion. The Fried Kway Teow is okay as well. Seems like the famous lala noodle soup is no longer here.

Visit at River of Life · 4:19 PM

Really love this spot, I think it is one of the most beautiful spot in the city. Gombak River and Klang River merged here, with a great view of Sultan Abdul Samad Mosque. There are nice walkway, places to chill and painting on the nearby building. Feel some peace and serenity at this spot.

Visit at Sultan Abdul Samad Building · 5:00 PM

Probably the most beautiful government building in the country since 1894. A very iconic building, just opposite Dataran Merdeka. There is a nice garden behind the building.

Visit at Kuala Lumpur City Gallery · 6:14 PM

Exhibition gallery with a pretty famous bakery.

Dinner at The Hungry Tapir · 7:15 PM

A pink themed vegetarian bar restaurant. Pink Bombshell Burger (RM 34) has the sauce of a burger, but the beetroot patty is just mashes without the taste and texture of a good patty. The sides of Sweet Potato Fries with Mayo sauce are pretty good. Jungle Laksa (RM 28) has plenty of herbs, but the broth is average. Spicy Tempeh Fingers (RM 12) is pretty good for a tempeh, enriched by dark soy and chili padi sauce. PS: the menu is a pdf on Google Drive

Visit at BookXcess RexKL · 9:13 PM

A bookstore designed like a maze. I would say this is one of the more interesting place to visit in Petaling Street. Rex is an old cinema building, still maintain some of its old vibe.

📅 Sep 28, 2023

Breakfast at MTR · 9:07 AM

This place served some of the best dosa/tosai I have ever tasted, albeit more expensive than usual. Onion Rava Dosa (RM 15) is crispy and tasty, with great chutney. Rava Idly (RM 11.50) is pretty thick and nice too, served with the same Chutney. Filter Coffee (RM 7.50) is pretty interesting as well.

Visit at Little India Brickfields · 10:06 AM

It is a colourful street filled with Indian deco and shops. The best way to enjoy it is probably to sit down and enjoy some Indian breakfast or snacks.

Tea at Sri Paandi Restaurant · 10:07 AM

The ambience here for morning breakfast is just perfect: open air dining on sidewalk, shades provided by nearby tall buildings, and the bustling atmosphere of an Indian breakfast place. Besides dosa, they do serve all kind on snacks, and the tea is pretty good.

Visit at Sree Veera Hanuman Temple · 11:30 AM

A very beautiful Indian Temple for Hanuman - God of Wisdom, Strength, Courage, Devotion and Self-discipline. The temples are full of beautiful carvings and statue of Hanuman for various places.

Visit at Sri Kandaswamy Temple · 11:35 AM

A Sri Lankan Tamil temple, everyone is welcome to enter (remove your shoes, dress appropriately). Inside is pretty spacious with plenty of columns, where the statues of deity are covered (you should not photograph the deities). Everyone just sit down to wait for prayer time, then they will play the music instruments, rang the bell and the priest well guide the prayers to all the deities. Everyone is welcomed to join this prayer.

Visit at Catholic Church of The Holy Rosary · 12:35 PM

Build in 1903, this Church is open to visitors. Simple and beautiful.

Dessert at Ah Keong's ABC & Ice Cendol Stall · 1:23 PM

Definitely stop by for a Cendol dessert when nearby, it is simple and nice. There is a Fried Kway Teow stall next door, or fried banana fritters nearby.

Snack at Brickfields Pisang Goreng | Fried Banana Stall 炸香蕉 · 1:30 PM

Pretty good fried banana fritters and friend nian gao. The batter is nice, kinda special.

Lunch at Peter's Pork Noodle · 1:34 PM

Located with Moneys Corner Food Court, Peter's Pork Noodle seems to be the most popular. Sadly the soup is pretty salty today, taste like an average bowl of pork noodle.

Hiking at Taman Tugu · 2:13 PM

A nice hiking trail in the middle of the city. The is a short NCP trail, can be completed in 20 minutes. There is a much longer CP which takes 2 hours, but with many shortcuts to shorten the trail. Plenty of swings along the trails. There is a bamboo trail, an abandoned house and a few metal gazebos. Saw many squirrels, some birds and monitor lizards along the way.

Stay at citizenM Kuala Lumpur Bukit Bintang hotel · 5:44 PM

A modern and clean hotel. The common area are huge and well decorated, plenty of sofas to chill or work desk to get some work done. The room is small but sufficient, with modern control using iPad to control lightings, blinds and tv. Sufficiently comfortable. Great location, next to Jalan Alor, but still quiet.

Dinner at 8Haus · 7:44 PM

This is a pork place, specializing in Pork Roulade. The highlight would be All-Time Curry Ramen (RM 22.80) with tasty broth mixed with pork lard and minced meat, good enough noodles and half a piece of Pork Roulade. I believe the broth actually enhances the Pork Roulade, which by itself is already pretty good. The Nasi Lemak Pork Roulade (RM 30.30) is a letdown because the anchovies and peanuts are too dry, and the sambal is average, and luckily the flavourful fluffy rice kind of saves it. The full Pork Roulade is probably too big (half is enough), and the mixture with Nasi Lemak kind of makes it too dry. Fried Mochi (RM 7.20) is nice, filled with richness of mashed sweet potato and crispy skin. I wish there is more Mochi. Bali Paradise (RM 9.80) is blended barley with ice shake and lemon. It is very rich in barley and fresh lime.
