Stay at Travel Inn House Mestia · 10:30 AM

We took a night train from Tbilisi to Zugdidi (35 GEL per person) and take a marshrutka to Mestia (20 GEL per person). This place is simple but nice. The host is a wonderful woman, and we really enjoy her hospitality.

Hotel Breakfast at Retro Tiflis · 9:45 AM

Have a satisfactory hotel breakfast before roaming Tbilisi.

City Sightseeing at Tbilisi · 10:00 AM

Some sightseeing photos around Tbilisi.

Ice-cream at Luca Polare · 11:25 AM

Found a good-looking ice-cream place.

Market at Dry Bridge Market · 12:30 PM

Strolling around the market.

Clock Tower at Clock Tower · 3:00 PM

Everyone gather around the clock tower and wait for the hourly angel to ring on the bell. I think there is an more elaborate "performance" at noon and 7pm. There are many art sellers and restaurants around this area, pretty touristy.

Bath at Orbeliani Baths · 5:24 PM

I think our private bath room cost 60 GEL per hour, and it is recommended to book. We took the cheapest body scrub options, and you feel a strong person is washing you like an object. Anyway, I do enjoy the experience.

Travel from Kazbegi to Tiblisi · 8:00 AM

We hop on a Marshrutka in Kazbegi's main street to go back to Tbilisi (10 GEL per person).

Stay at Tiflis Inn Glamour Boutique Hotel · 11:10 AM

We book ourselves into a very nice yet affordable hotel. The room is really gorgeous and comfortable. I wish we have time to stay longer. Absolutely nice decoration, with a bathtub, and the location is convenient.

Lunch at Barbarestan · 1:30 PM

We didn't realized this is a fine dining restaurant, so they served tiny portion. Somehow we are quite disappointed, probably due to misaligned expectations, and we try to share the dishes (this is not how fine dining works). We are hoping for the usual Georgian large size serving and delicious food. I guess the food is good due to the high google ratings, but we are just not in the mood for fine dining, and the waiters seems frustrated with us as well.

Walking around at Tbilisi · 4:00 PM

Tbilisi is a beautiful and vibrant city. It is very comfortable to walk around, with beautiful buildings, architecture, churches and parks along the way.

Visit at Bridge of Peace · 5:00 PM

Perhaps it looks nice at night, or my photography skill sucks.

Visit at Rike Park · 5:10 PM

Quite a huge park. A lot of people came here, so there are all sort of activities. There are art installations, concert hall and a play ground.
+4

Ride Cable Car at Aerial Tramway · 5:33 PM

Take the cable car at Riker Park towards the hill of Mother of Georgia. It should have a nice view of Tbilisi at the top.

Visit at Narikala Fortress · 6:15 PM

Narikala is an old Fortress, together with St. Nicholas Church. For me, the highlight would be the splendid view of Tbilisi. Plenty of walls to climb.
+45

Walk at Tbilisi · 7:30 PM

Tbilisi old town at night.

Dinner at Shavi Lomi · 8:10 PM

We took a bolt from the old town to this restaurant. Bolt is like an Uber, and the apps just works without much problem for first time user. The dinner should be good, but we probably order too much and we are too tired. Stll, nice ambience and service.

📅 Sep 10, 2019

Hike at Gergeti Trinity Church · 6:30 AM

We hike from the town towards Gergeti Trinity Church. The path is pretty scenic, going through a village and forest.
+42

Hike at Gergeti Glacier · 9:30 AM

We continue hiking from Gergeti Trinity Church towards Gergeti Glacier. We bump into a herd of sheep's, which was fun. The path is nice. Soon it started to snow, probably because it was drizzling too much. It starts to get quite cold, and our pace slowed down significantly. Luckily we have enough warm clothing, but it was not easy. After a long while we reach a hut, with heating and food, thank goodness. We order some soup, try to dry some clothing by the fire heater, and enjoy our coffee. The snow is quite heavy near on the path forward, and we can hardly see the group going up in such weather. We decide to give up on reaching the glacier, and turn back to Trinity Church instead.

Visit at Gergeti Trinity Church · 5:00 PM

Visit Gergeti Trinity Church on our way down from Gergeti Glacier. The church is nice, with quite a view. We took a shared van back to to town (10 GEL per person).

Dinner at Vitamin Kazbegi · 6:30 PM

We went back to Vitamin for dinner, since we like the food. 65 GEL for 3 person.

📅 Sep 9, 2019

Breakfast at Guesthouse Elia · 7:25 AM

Good breakfast for 15 GEL per person.

Hiking at Truso Gorge · 9:09 AM

Took a private taxi from Kazbegi/Stepantsminda to Truso Valley for 100 GEL per car (will pick us up at predetermined time). The weather is cloudy, but it is still a pleasant long walk (6h for returns). The landscape is pretty amazing, flat and vast, flanked by mountains. The end of the trail is Zakagori Fortress, with an army camp at the base. The fortress ruin is on top of a hill, so we get a pretty great view of the surrounding landscape. It started raining on our way back, and it is freezing cold. Luckily we found cover by the path, and ate our packed lunch and wine. Overall it is a pleasant walk with beautiful landscape, definitely recommended.

Dinner at Restaurant Vitamin Kazbegi Closed for season · 5:33 PM

This is like a cafe restaurant, more expensive than Pikolo, but taste pretty good. We finally got a taste of Adjaruli Khacapuri, the Kachapuri with an egg at the center. We order Kharcho (beef soup) and Chikhirtma (chicken soup) to keep our body warm after the rainy hike.

📅 Sep 8, 2019

Morning at Sighnaghi · 7:26 AM

I went out early in the morning to buy Marshrutka ticket to Tbilisi, as I forgotten to buy them yesterday. Luckily seats are still available, but a couple who came 10 minutes before departure couldn't get the tickets. The bus station isn't very obvious if you didn't look close enough.

Transport at Station Square · 10:57 AM

Our Marshrutka stop at the Navtlugi Bus Station west of Tbilisi, where we took the Metro to Station Square to stock up at Deserter Bazaar. We took the metro again to Didube Bus Station for our transport to Kazbegi.

Stopover at Panorama of Zhinvali Reservoir · 1:25 PM

We were planning to take a Marshrutka from Didube Bus Station, Tbilisi to Kazbegi and skip the sightseeing along the way due to the drizzling weather, but someone we got "convinced" to take the private car with sightseeing included (20 GEL per person, 4 person per car). The first stop is Panaroma view of Zhinvali Reservoir.

Explore at Ananuri Fortress Complex · 1:42 PM

This place is a Fortress with a Monestry, and good view of the Reservoir. Definitely worth the stop.
+31

Explore at Peace Monument · 3:34 PM

The place looks absolutely majestic, with the beautiful monument wall and balcony surrounded by the mountains. It is very very windy as well, so we couldn't last long out here.
+19

Accommodation at Guesthouse Elia · 4:36 PM

Clean professional guesthouse (so you don't get the warm welcome of small guesthouse), breakfast available for 15 GEL per person, but no dinner.

Walk at Stepantsminda · 5:57 PM

I believe the Town where most people stay is called Stepantsminda, but most people refer it as Kazbegi (which is the area name).

Dinner at Restaurant Pikolo · 6:51 PM

Here you can get a local delicacies: pig sausage with some intestines (can't say I really enjoy it, but worth a try). The mushroom + potato Khinkali (dumpling) is extremely filling, the Lobio (beans) is pretty good and the usual eggplant with walnut sauce, and some fruity beer.
